World-Class Trainers and Health Coaches
REAL Human Performance was co-founded in 2014 by four visionaries. REAL Human exists as a full spectrum community for the mind, body and spirit. For 10 years, the team provided functional fitness and resilience at our community gym and has expanded beyond the green turf to online training, conference keynotes, and onsite within change-making organizations.
Jen Schneeman, MBA, C-IAYT, E-RYT500, CDCA (she/her)
Where Science meets the Spirit! Jen is a trauma-informed and chronic fatigue-informed nervous system specialist and co-founder of REAL Human Performance, a community for the mind, body and spirit. With 20 years in health & human performance, Jen facilitates personalized stress management, burnout resilience and posttraumatic growth programs that empower people to live in their bodymind with more ease, self-trust and peace.
Jen guides people to map their daily energy and understand their unique nervous system wiring in order to identify energy leaks, manage stress triggers and reduce lifestyle inflammation. Jen trains other humans to build upon these foundations to sustainably reclaim personal energy, expand capacity and thrive amidst the inevitable daily stressors.
First as a Science and Tech Advisor with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Defense Sciences Office and later as a Deputy at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Human Performance Wing, Jen managed an outrageous portfolio of biologically inspired robots, brain-machine interfaces for prosthetics, and multi-disciplinary programs to understand the impact of nutrition, illness, injury and stress on individual susceptibility and resistance to other stressors and disease.
Jen knows first-hand how chronic stress, concussion and trauma impacts the nervous system communication in the form of autoimmunity, anxiety, chronic pain and burnout.
After experiencing stress-related burnout (4x!) in a post-9/11 environment, Jen finally understood that no amount of bootstrapping can sustainably reignite a nervous system after experiencing burnout. Even more, how continuous overriding the system may ‘work’ short-term, but long-term, only creates faster pathways to shutdown.
From her personal journey and professional work in mental health and addiction communities, Jen committed to training, research and application of mindfulness, breathwork, yoga therapy, energywork, meditation, vagus nerve conditioning, psychomotor movement, relational trauma therapy, somatic experiencing and personalized nutrition for nervous system regulation and capacity restoration.
Jen developed and directed the Self Care and Resilience™ program, a holistic stress management and nervous system resilience program that reduces perceived stress and improves coping skills, establishes boundaries and boosts compassion.
Over the last decade, she launched mindbody therapeutic programs within two NFL teams, three military branches, dozens of organizations, hundreds of health/helping professionals and thousands of real humans just like you.
This work is featured across local and national news outlets and the data outcomes presented at the American Academy of Health Behavior and International Society of Traumatic Stress.
Jen holds a steady belief in our human potential and that each of us deserves the freedom found from everyday resilience to show up in the world as our True Self. Wherever we go, we take a whole person approach to mental health and wellbeing.
Jen finds full-circle meaning when engaging in warfigher reintegration, somatic justice and youth empowerment work across the country. Jen is committed to rehumanizing our society through state grants like Hey, I’m Here Ohio, a diverse youth-led movement on a mission to grow resilience in Ohio’s youth.
For her own energy resilience, you will find Jen camping with her family, hiking and biking local trails, kayaking local rivers, backyard gardening and crafting wreaths.
